The Alien Swarm Parasite is an unlockable promotional headwear item for all classes. It appears as an altered version of the enemy parasite from the game Alien Swarm. The creature is attached to each class's head differently and sports a limp tail.

This hat is obtained by earning the "Hat Trick" achievement in the game Alien Swarm by completing 2 co-op missions online, regardless of difficulty setting.

The hat description was written by Grug for the Hat Describing Contest and was slightly edited by Valve.

  • Fixed the Alien Swarm Parasite not being posed correctly on class loadout panels.

December 2, 2010 Patch

  • The Alien Swarm Parasite was made paintable.

Bugs

  • Similar to an existing bug with the Holy Mackerel, the jiggleboned tail of the parasite may become twisted and knotted.

Trivia

  • When the parasite is shot after falling off of its owner, it will bleed.
  • When clicked in the backpack, the hat makes the sound of the parasite from Alien Swarm.
  • When it's used by Scout, it is weared backwards by him.
