The [ classified ], commonly known as the Potato Hat, is a promotional headwear item for all classes. It is a white hard hat with a Template:W miner's light with a team-colored glow based on the game Portal's colors, blue and orange, connected by two insulated orange wires. The far side of the hat sports two pieces of grey electrical tape covering an unknown circular logo.
This hat is awarded to players who have bought the Potato Sack pack, or own all the games from the pack. It first became available with the April 5, 2011 Patch and can be obtained until the release of Portal 2.

Trivia
- This hat is a reference to the "Potato Clock", a popular science fair project where a potato is used to power a clock or other electronic appliance.[2]
- The games included in the Potato Sack pack contain potatoes and glyphs leading to one another, and are part of an ongoing Template:W.
- The hat's name of Potato is a reference to Portal 2, as evidenced by a marketing image found on the Steam website where the Portal 2 logo was written out with letters blacked out. [3]
- Redaction is the act of blanking out sensitive or classified information from a document in order to reduce its classification level for distribution to a wider audience.
