The Vintage Merryweather is a community-created headwear item for the Pyro and was chosen by Valve to be released with the second wave of community-contributed content due to its outstanding quality. It is modelled after a style of fireman's helmet used from the 19th century.

Trivia
- Merryweather helmets were originally produced by the Merryweather company, a 19th-century British manufacturer of firefighting equipment.
- This is the second Pyro hat to be styled after a firefighter's helmet.
- The Merryweather was originally submitted as the "Vintage Pyrolean" (most likely a play on the Vintage Tyrolean's name) and is labeled "pyrolean" in the game files.
- The hat was originally going to be all-gold, but it was changed due to it being too plain and bright.[1] With the addition of paint cans, however, you can indeed have an all-gold Merryweather.
- When this item is painted, the hat retains its gold bands, and the bulk of the hat (the black area) is replaced.
- The description of this hat (written by ASpieboy) refers to the Pyro as a man.
- The brim of this hat partially obscures the Pyro's eye holes, which appears to give him/her "angry eyes".
