The Birdcage is a community-created headwear item for the Pyro. It is a copper and iron birdcage that fits around the Pyro's head with a small team-colored bird sitting on a perch inside that swings about.
A robotized version of this hat, the Bolted Birdcage, was added in the Robotic Boogaloo update.
When players equipped with this item kill an enemy unassisted by another player, the killfeed shows everyone in Pyroland that it gets the assist, with its custom name if it has one.
The Birdcage was contributed to the Steam Workshop.
