The Triboniophorus Tyrannus (/'traɪ,boʊniːoʊ,fɔərʌs/ /taɪ,rænʌs/ treye-boh-nee-oh-foh-russ teye-ran-uss), often referred to as the Brain Slug, is a community-created headwear item for the Pyro. Triboniophorus Tyrannus is a green, gelatinous slug with beady black eyes, placed off-center atop the Pyro's gas mask-burnished head.
When a player equipped with the item kills an enemy unassisted by another player, the killfeed shows the Triboniophorous Tyrannus getting the assist.

- The Template:W is a genus of green slug native to Australia.
- Triboniophorus Tyrannus roughly translates to "Slug Tyrant" in Latin.
- The hat appears in page 2 on the No Text version of the True Meaning comic with a Santa hat on it.
