The Triboniophorus Tyrannus, often referred to as the Brain slug, is a community-created headwear item for the Pyro, released with the first wave of community-contributed content. It is a green, gelatinous slug with beady black eyes, placed off-center atop the Pyro's gas mask.
The hat's description was written by crushilista for the Hat Describing Contest.

Trivia
- A wrapped Triboniophorus Tyrannus will appear as a "Pyro Brain Sucker" on the gift's description thumbnail from within the sender's backpack.
- The Triboniophorus Tyrannus is a reference to the brain slugsfeatured in Template:W. In the show, they would attach themselves to an individual's head and control their mind, forcing them to appear semi-comatose, speak in a monotonous tone, and do anything to spread the brain slugs throughout the universe. The brain slugs in the cartoon however, had one large eye instead of two small eyes, as well as two antennae.
- The Template:W is a type of green slug native to Australia.
- Triboniophorus Tyrannus roughly translates to "Slug King" in Latin.
