The Private Maggot Muncher is a community-created cosmetic item for Soldier. It is a large bald eagle that sits upon the Soldier's left shoulder, and moves about with the Soldier.
When players equipped with this item kill an enemy unassisted by another player, the killfeed shows everyone in Pyroland that it gets the assist, with its custom name if it has one.
The Private Maggot Muncher was contributed to the Steam Workshop.

Trivia
- Equipping the Private Maggot Muncher removes Soldier's default hat without it being worn on the eagle's head, as if "stolen", as portrayed on the Workshop page. It is unknown if this is an intended effect.
- It's been discovered that the Private Maggot Muncher is compatible with Soldier's other eagle-based mascot, the Compatriot; it's also noted that both cosmetics perch on the same shoulder and don't clip whatsoever, allowing players to equip dual eagles.
