The Killer's Kabuto is a community-created headwear item for the Soldier and was chosen by Valve to be released with the first wave of community-contributed content due to its outstanding quality. It appears as a team-colored kabuto-style Japanese helmet, with an elaborate gold ornament displaying the Soldier's class icon.

Trivia
- During the Momoyama period of civil war, these "kawari kabuto" (strange helmets) were mass-produced. They are made of 3 or 4 large plates of metal, as opposed to hundreds of tiny metal strips riveted together, as is the standard for 'traditional' kabuto.
- It seems unclear why the Soldier would wish to wear this hat. Perhaps he finds it a tribute to his 'hero' Sun Tzu, even though the hat originates from Japan and not China.
- The Killer's Kabuto is the second community hat to appear in a Valve animated short.
- The hat description was written by f3doraman.
- Haiku is a form of poetry originating in Japan, consisting of 3 phrases of 5, 7, and 5 moras (sound units determining syllable weight). Haiku also typically contains references to nature and the seasons, which the description lacks.
- Crocket is an short way of saying "critical rocket". The Soldier will typically say "Crocket!" when killing an enemy with one.
